Terms & conditions.

Makers Wall (“Makers Wall”, “we”, “us”) is a community platform where makers test each other’s products. It is run by Maxime Bertonnier, an individual based in France. Makers Wall is not a registered company and isn’t run to make money.

By creating an account or joining the waitlist, you agree to these terms. If you don’t agree, please don’t use Makers Wall.

• You must be at least 16 years old to create an account.
• You can sign up with an email and password, or with GitHub or Google. Keep your login details to yourself; you’re responsible for what happens on your account.
• One person, one account. Accounts are personal and can’t be transferred or shared.
• The name, handle and profile details you give us must be yours and accurate enough for other makers to know who they’re working with.

You post a project and describe what you want tested. Other makers claim it, test it within a set window, chat with you during the test and send a written report. You rate each other when it’s done. Testing other people’s projects is what moves your own project up the queue.

Makers Wall is free to use today. If we ever introduce paid features, we’ll tell you before anything changes and nothing you already use will start costing money without your agreement.

We don’t guarantee that your project will be tested, by how many people, how fast, or that a report will find every problem. Testers are volunteers from the community, not professional QA.

• You must own the project or be allowed to invite people to test it.
• Describe it honestly, including what testers need to access it (devices, accounts, install steps). Don’t hide paid walls, data collection or anything a tester would reasonably want to know before trying it.
• Use test accounts and staging data. Never give testers credentials to production systems that hold other people’s personal data.
• No malware, nothing illegal, nothing designed to collect testers’ data beyond what the test needs, and nothing that asks testers to pay.
• Review reports in good faith and rate testers on how useful their work actually was.

• Test within the window you claimed, and write down what you actually found. If you can’t finish, either withdraw early so the slot goes to someone else, or submit the report you have. An incomplete report is allowed, but the maker may rate it accordingly.
• Keep it confidential. Private briefs, access links, credentials, unreleased features and anything else you only see because you claimed a test stay between you and the maker. Don’t share, publish or reuse them.
• Test the product as a user would. Don’t attack the maker’s servers, run load tests, try to access other users’ data or keep exploiting a security issue once you’ve found it. Report security problems to the maker through the report or the chat, and nowhere else.
• You install and run other makers’ software at your own risk. Use a device or account you’re comfortable testing on.

You keep ownership of everything you post: projects, briefs, reports, messages, screenshots and videos. You give Makers Wall a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, store and display that content only as needed to run the platform (for example, showing your project on the wall or your report to the maker).

When you send a report or feedback to a maker, you also give that maker a permanent, royalty-free right to use it to improve their product, without owing you anything for it. That’s the point of the trade.

Don’t post content you don’t have the right to share, or that is unlawful, hateful, harassing or sexually explicit.

Makers and testers rate each other after a test. Ratings, your tester and maker scores, and public notes attached to ratings may appear on your public profile. Your position in the queue depends on the tests you complete and how they are rated.

Rating manipulation (fake accounts, trading ratings, rating without testing) isn’t allowed. We may remove ratings, reset scores or adjust queue positions when we find it.

• Harass, threaten or deceive other members.
• Spam, advertise unrelated services, or contact members outside Makers Wall for things they didn’t agree to.
• Create fake or multiple accounts, or impersonate someone.
• Scrape the platform, overload it, or try to get around its limits or security.

We may remove content, pause a project or suspend an account that breaks these terms or puts other members at risk. Where we can, we’ll tell you why and give you a chance to respond.

You can stop using Makers Wall at any time. To delete your account, write to m.bertonnier@gmail.com and we’ll delete it as described in the privacy policy. Reports and ratings you exchanged with other makers may stay visible to them, without your name attached.

Makers Wall is a young service, provided “as is”. We work to keep it available and secure, but we can’t promise it will always be online or free of bugs.

Makers Wall puts makers and testers in touch; it doesn’t vet them, check their intentions or supervise their tests. In particular, we are not responsible:

• if a tester misuses what they discovered through Makers Wall, including access links, credentials or unreleased features, to harm a project, its maker or its users. That is the tester’s sole responsibility, and it breaks these terms. Makers should only share test accounts and staging access they can revoke, and revoke them once a test ends;
• for problems your real customers run into, whether or not your project was tested here, how thoroughly, or whether a report missed them. Testing on Makers Wall is a complement to your own quality work, not a guarantee;
• for the projects posted by makers, the software you choose to test, or what other members say or do.

To the extent the law allows, we aren’t liable for indirect losses such as lost profits, lost data or damage to your devices caused by software you tested. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have as a consumer that can’t legally be limited.

We may update these terms as the platform grows. If a change matters, we’ll tell you by email or in the app at least 14 days before it applies. Using Makers Wall after that means you accept the new version.

These terms are governed by French law. If we disagree about something, let’s talk first; if that doesn’t work, the competent French courts will decide. If you are a consumer living in another EU country, you keep the protection of your own country’s mandatory rules and can also go to the courts where you live.
