Landing page feedback that improves conversion.

A landing page has one job: make the right visitor understand what you offer and take the next step. Whether it does is hard to judge from the inside. Here is what to have reviewed, in which order, and how to get it looked at by people who build landing pages themselves.

Review it in the order visitors read it

  1. 1The headline and subheadline: can a stranger say what you do and who it's for after five seconds?
  2. 2The first screen: is the call to action visible without scrolling, on a phone?
  3. 3Proof: screenshots, a demo, numbers, names. Is there anything that makes the promise believable?
  4. 4Objections: price, effort, trust. Are the questions a visitor would have answered before they have to ask?
  5. 5The call to action itself: one clear next step, worded as what the visitor gets rather than "Submit".

Questions that get useful answers

  • "In one sentence, what does this product do?" Compare their answer to yours.
  • "Who do you think this is for?" If they say "not me", that's fine, as long as they can name who.
  • "What would stop you from signing up?"
  • "Which sentence did you skip?" Cut it.

Why makers are good reviewers

Most people who test your page on Makers Wall have shipped landing pages of their own and read far too many of them. They know the patterns, and they notice a vague headline faster than a random visitor would.

They also have a reason to be thorough: after the test you rate their report, and that rating follows them. Every problem they find is listed separately with a type and severity, so you get a to-do list instead of an opinion.

How it works on the wall

  1. 1 · SubmitPaste your link and write what testers should look at.
  2. 2 · TestClaim someone else's project and write down what broke. That's what moves yours up.
  3. 3 · ReceiveMakers test yours and send a report, every problem listed with its severity.
  4. 4 · RateYou rate each other; both ratings unlock together.

Free, and based on reciprocity. The FAQ has every rule written out.

Questions

Where can I get feedback on my landing page?
On Makers Wall: submit your landing page with what you want reviewed, and other makers go through it and send a written report. It's free; you return the favour by reviewing theirs.
What makes a good landing page review?
A good review follows the page in the order a visitor reads it (headline, first screen, proof, objections, call to action) and points at specific sentences and elements, not a general impression.
Can I get my landing page roasted?
Makers Wall reports are honest rather than harsh: testers list every problem they find, with a severity, and you rate how useful the report was. You get the substance of a roast without the performance.
